LIFE GOES BY WAY TOO QUICKLY
“You can’t save time, you can only spend it.” –Sauna Camp;
I saw this story the other day and it resonated with me so much because my wife and I have had such similar experiences – so a few words have been changed by me:
After traveling to many different countries, here’s one of the wisest things that was ever said to my wife and me that still has us thinking about American work culture.
At a small café in France, a man having espresso next to us asked “what we do.”
At the time, we responded “executive coaching and marketing…what do you do?”
“I play tennis,” he said, to which we (spontaneously) asked, “You’re a professional tennis player?”
“No, I just love to spend my days that way…outside…moving my body, playing with old friends.”
As Americans, we often define ourselves only by how we make money. We introduce ourselves with fancy titles and certifications after our name…
When we should be defining ourselves by what brings us joy and passion.
And for some of us, that is our work…
And for others, it’s something else.
There really is no such thing as work-life balance.
It’s all just life. “The balance is within.”
Remember:
“If you live to be 75, you live for 27,375 days, of which 18,250 days you’re either sleeping or working. (By all means, live longer! And to a healthy 100 or more, and adjust the math accordingly!)
If you’re 25, you have 18,250 days left on average.
If you’re 50, you have 9,125 days left on average.
If you’re 65, you have 3,650 days left on average.
The biggest fear isn’t death, it’s an un-lived life.
So take that road trip you’ve been thinking about…Book that bucket list travel…Tell them “I love you” while you still can…
Start that small business or side hustle…
Take some risks.
Because you can’t save time, you can only spend it.
So start living for a living”
